Tropic Hideaway – Spring Break – March 19, 2025 to Mar 23, 2025
We make our sixth trip to tropical Hideaway. This is just for a relaxing long weekend and a little work while we are there.
Wednesday – March 19, 2025
We woke up early and hit the road, happy to beat the morning traffic caused by construction at the stack, even though we weren’t actually going through it, just by it.
I’m working from the rig this week, Wednesday through Friday. The computer and phone worked fine in the car using the hotspot. The biggest issue was that I’m not used to working on a laptop, so I kept trying to touch the screen like an iPad.
Jack helped me set up a mouse, keyboard, and extra monitor when we arrived at Tropic Hideaway.
The dogs traveled well, and we made good time.
Buc-ee’s wasn’t as crazy as it has been in previous years during spring break. So we stopped for lunch and picked up a few extra desserts.
Thursday – March 20, 2025
The weather turned out cool and windy, but it was beautiful from inside the rig. Wind gust into the 30’s.
I had to work, so Jack kept busy cleaning windows and other things.
We had lunch at Wolf Bay, which is our only planned meal out. We also brought plenty of other food items to eat and cook.
Friday – March 21, 2025
We woke up to frost, but it was a beautiful day. The temperature is warming up to the high 60s. I’m working, and it’s been relatively quiet so far. Jack and I have been busy preparing Maria for the trade-in on the new 25′ Classic coming in May.
I took my lunch break at the end of the day and left at 3 o’clock. We went to Target and bought bedding for the new rig, of course, and we couldn’t resist getting a daiquiri. We finished cooking the gumbo and red beans and rice for supper.

We decided to sleep in a bit. Sprat started chatting around 6 a.m., probably because of the time change. I’m not complaining; 6 a.m. is much better than 5 a.m.
We plan to visit the outlet mall and the boat show at the wharf this morning. The weather looks beautiful, and it might even be warm enough to sit outside or ride bikes.
We’re planning to grill tonight and start getting ready to leave in the morning. After a bit of trouble with the grill, the steak turned out delicious.
I’ll sun for a bit while Jack takes a rest.
Sunday – March 23, 2025
We’re heading home today. Our stay was very relaxing.
The drive home was very easy. I have to go to work tomorrow, and then we’re driving to Natchez on Friday.
