March 21-24, 2024

We make our way to Biloxi MS and Foley AL for a couple tribute band concerts. What fun we had. Stopping in Biloxi for a Billy vs Elton tribute band at the Hard Rock Casino then heading to OWA, for a Still Standing concert.

This is our third trip to Tropic Hideaway this year. Why? First, the RV Park is great, easy access to the OWA Theater and places to eat. Second, the entertainment, concerts, that we have seen have been amazing. Tribute Bands, BeeGees Now, White Tie: Pink Floyd and Still Standing, Elton John Tribute. Forth, it makes for a great long weekend with easy access.

We will be back in May for the Balloon Festival. Excited to see this for the first time.

Thursday – March 21, 2024
Gulf Beach RV Park – Biloxi – Site # 43 (back row by the apartments – it was fine, just not our normal spot.

The trip out of Jackson and down Hwy 49 was insanely calm compared to previous experiences.

We made good time. We arrived before check-in, so we parked on the beach and had our picnic lunch. This was just a one nighter so we just did water and electricity at the RV park.

We met Nick and Shelley at The Reef restaurant for dinner. The food was good and plenty. We all had a variety of seafood.

The concert was at the Hard Rock Casino and was crazy good. Shelley got us some Elton John glasses, but the boys didn’t wear theirs. Billy Joel vs Elton John dueling pianos. Very entertaining. We had a great time.

Friday – March 22, 2024
Hidden Tropic Rv Resort – Site # 2271.

Friday morning we were up at pretty much normal time. It had rained most of the night and we had a little break in the heavy rain so we unhooked and prepped for a trip over to Tropic Hideaway In Foley AL.

As we got on the road, the weather seem to get worse, it was extremely windy and made traveling a little bit of an adventure. With the winds, in the range of about 40 mph, we didn’t drive very fast.

When we made it to the Alabama state line, we stopped by the rest area for a short break. Once we got back on the road, the winds seem to subside a lot and not much rain at all. So the rest of the travels were just fine. We made it through Mobile and through the tunnel and on our way to Buc-ees. Upon arrivals, Buc-ees seems to be completely out of control today. They had people outside directing traffic, only one way in and one way out, what a zoo. We got our fuel, picked up some cookies and banana pudding and we were on our way.

We ate our lunch in the OWA parking lot and waited for check-in time. After check-in Jack got set up. We plan to eat in tonight and take it easy. Shelley and Nick will arrive Saturday for Elton John still standing tribute.

Saturday – March 23, 2024

We ate lunch with Nick and Shelley at Wolf Bay. Messed around at a market and a few stores there. Then headed to The Wharf for a daiquiri and a little shopping. Little did we know that it was the OBI Orange Beach Truck Invasion! This place was packed, but we finally made it in. It was fun to look at all the big trucks! Right up Shelley’s alley, since Barrett is all about big trucks.

We ate in and then headed to the concert. The concert was so good. Nick and Shelley stayed with us for the first time. We think it went ok.

Going home today. We have had a great weekend with Nick and Shelley. Sunday morning they left about 8:00am and we got on the road about 9:00am. Travel was good. A little wind, but all went well. We were both tired, but we had enjoyed the weekend.
