Sun Outdoors – Orange Beach, AL
October 25-29
This is our first visit to the Orange Beach area, but we’ve had great experiences at three different Sun Outdoors RV Parks so far—New Orleans North Shore, Panama City Beach, and now Orange Beach. We’re looking forward to a relaxing weekend and find a few nice places to eat.

We got off Wednesday morning about 730. We made great time and with the new bypass open at the Mississippi Alabama state line it made the travel even easier. We got to Buc-ees about 11:30am and we had plenty of time to kill since checking in was at 2:00pm. Buc-ees was busy but not like in the summer when it is absolutely crazy. So, I was able to shop around which was fun.
Sun Outdoors Orange Beach park is very nice and well kept. This is the largest spot we have ever had. It is long, wide and level. Very nice.

The weather today is windy and cloudy. It was too cloudy to watch the sunrise, so maybe another day. We went to Foley and messed around and went to a few stores. We got back in time to eat lunch in the Airstream. After lunch, I was able to sunbathe for a couple of hours.
We left early enough for dinner to go to the Wharf Marina, looked at all the boats, and walk in a few stores. We planned to eat at Big Mike’s. We arrived around 4:45 pm and the wait was about 30 minutes. The food was good and we enjoyed the evening.

Jack work on the Airstream, just normal maintenance items, and I Laid out. When we finished, we went to the pool for about 30 minutes. Then the never ending cloud came so we went in. We had thought about going to a movie, but the times just did not work into our schedule for the day.
We had dinner reservations at The Louisiana Lagniappe. We ended up going to the outlet mall for a couple hours. Not much of a big deal since we have one now.
Dinner at The Louisiana Lagniappe was great. We looked at the boats at the marina. I like the names, but it was hard to see at the angles that we were at.

The park is huge. It seems like 500 spots with both sections combined. It’s very manicured and well cap. We are at spot 48, very close to the adult pool. They don’t have activities like other Sun Outdoors.
We took a long walk this morning. A short part of the walk was on the trail that is part of the park. I laid out and Jack had a small bit of maintenance and then he watched football I signed. The weather was beautiful and we just enjoyed being here. No adventures today. We missed the sunrise. but moon has been full and showing out.

Travel day, we left about 8:00am. We had prepped the night before as much as possible, so it made our morning much easier. We made a fuel stop at Buc-ees and then got on the road. We had never taken Maria through the Mobile Bay Tunnel but we did today. The traffic was light, so the tunnel was no issue and the rest of the trip was smooth.
We enjoyed our trip, great food and a very relaxing weekend.
