Sun Outdoors New Orleans North Shore
April 5-7 Ponchatoula, Louisiana
This trip was just a quick getaway to rest and relax. Overall, we accomplished this. Making a day trip to New Orleans and finding a great poor boy and a little sightseeing. The weather at home and in Louisiana did not look good on the forecast, so being weather alert was a priority.
Wednesday:
Traveling down was not bad, but it did rain all the way. We got checked in and finally had a break in the weather to complete the hookup at the campsite. We ran into town to pick up a coax cable for the tv and just so happened to have a daiquiri shop next door. As Diane says, “Nothing beats a Louisiana daiquiri.” I would have to agree. That evening, our weather was fine, but at home, it was not good: hail and power outages across town.
Thursday:
Thursday morning, we drove into New Orleans to do a little sightseeing. Neither of us had spent much time on Magazine St. before, so we drove down and took in the sights. It has a typical New Orleans-style architecture, and the street is very narrow. We had a blast.
We made our way to Parkway Bakery and Tavern for lunch. We both had a roast beef poor boy, and it was great: parkwaypoorboys.com. After lunch, we headed back to the RV and took it easy.
That evening, we went to Middendorf’s for dinner. Another great meal. We had fried shrimp and catfish. Oh, so good: middendorfsrestaurant.com
The weather was good all day. We kept an eye on it, and it appeared that Friday night was not going to be very good, so we decided that we would head home Friday morning.
Friday:
We got hooked up just before the rain started that morning. We left around 9 a.m. and basically drove in the rain all the way home. Big Blue is just a beast. It makes our traveling so easy. Each trip, we feel what a great purchase it has been.
