Silver Slipper – Waveland MS

Silver Slipper Rv Park – July 6-9, 2023 – Site #3 – Waveland MS

MPG 14.1

Our trip is to the Silver Slipper where we have been before. We plan to spend time with our friends Nick and Shelley, eat some great seafood, hang out in Bay St. Louis and attend a concert featuring “Little River Band”.

We really like the solitude that comes with being at this park. It’s also nice to have such a great view. It would have been nice to enjoy the pool at the casino but maybe next time. The sunrises have been spectacular, extremely beautiful.

Thursday:
We traveled I-55 south to Hammond LA, then east on I-12 to Slidell and on to I-10 into MS. We are not sure if this was the fastest way, but it was an easy journey. We stopped at the MS Welcome center for lunch and a short break. We arrived at the Silver Slipper around 12:30 and had a smooth setup.

Site #3 is one of the few places where we can enjoy the view out the back window. We are right across the street from the beach and the view is great. The park does not have many rigs at this time, but it will fill up as we get into the weekend.

That evening, we met Nick and Shelley for dinner at Bacchus on the beach. The food was good, although not very filling. After dinner, we grabbed a daiquiri and then headed to the Silver Slipper Casino to see some old cars that were being featured.

Friday:
It’s a very cloudy day, so not much of a good beach or pool day. Therefore, we decided to visit the Ground Zero Hurricane Katrina Museum. It was nicely done, and we spent a little over an hour going through it and enjoying the exhibits.

After lunch, we explored Bay St. Louis. The highlight of the day was walking through the Bay St. Louis Marina, where we were able to walk the pier and get up close to all the boats. It was super nice.

That evening, we had dinner with Nick and Shelley.

Saturday:
Saturday morning, we met with Richard Brown at Foley RV in Gulfport to look at a 27′ Globetrotter. We really liked it and also checked out the other models on the lot. However, the upgrade cost was more than we wanted to spend at this time. It also made us realize how much we love our current 27′ Flying Cloud.

We returned to our RV and had lunch before Nick and Shelley came over. We decided to explore the town for a bit. Later, we returned to the RV, and they left to freshen up before the concert.

We met for dinner and then headed to the concert. Little River Band was performing at the Hollywood Casino in Bay St. Louis. They are an amazing band, and we really enjoyed the evening.

Sunday:
Packed and ready to go home. We have a lot to do since we were gone all day yesterday and last night. Due to construction on I-10 at the state line, we took a different route home. Nick suggested taking Texas Flat Rd to bypass the construction and Stennis Space Center. It’s a nice two-lane road that serves as a cut-through to I-59 just south of Picayune MS. We’ll remember this route for our next trip to the Silver Slipper RV Park.
