River View RV Park – Vidalia LA – July 2-5, 2022
Site # 118

We really liked the River View RV Park. We got a last minute 4th of July weekend site and enjoyed our stay.  We will stay here again. Hopefully in October 2022.

Saturday:  We traveled the Natchez Trace from Clinton to Natchez and then across the Mississippi River bridge to Vidalia LA and the River View RV Park. It is such an easy trip, and the road is smooth and so easy to drive. If is by far the road that we get the best gas mileage of any of our travels. We got 14.4 mpg on this trip.

We arrived at the River View RV Park in Vidalia LA around 12 o’clock. We were able to check-in a little early. Site #118 is a pull through and level site. We did not have very much shade on this hot and muggy trip. The park is very nice. We had access to the dog park and there was plenty of grassy areas to walk the dogs as well.

After setup we went into Natchez to mess around. We checked the time it took for us to go from just outside the RV park to the left turn it takes us to the historic district in Natchez. It only took about 3 minutes.

Sunday:  Sunday morning we watched the sunrise then walked the river front pathway that goes along the Mississippi River. The river looks calm and not so huge until you see the boats put into the water can you realize how massive it is. There were so many boats launching from the boat ramp, we wondered where they all were going.

We ate lunch out and had sandwiches for supper. I sunned a little that afternoon and Jack had a few things to do to the RV, so it was a laid-back day.

The band Alabama was playing in Natchez that evening. We stayed on the Louisiana side and got closer to the bridge so we could hear them. That worked for a while until one of the hotels close by had a band that started to play. It was extremely hot, so we went back to the rig to cool off.

Monday:  We had no plans today other than to watch the fireworks show at 9:30 PM on the river. It was muggy here. The fireworks lasted for about 20 minutes. Fun to watch.

Overview:  It was funny because initially we were planning to stay home. I didn’t think either of us could stand it, so we booked a spot last minute, $43 a night, and hit the road. We won’t be able to go again until August 19.

FYI: Slots 119, 120, 106 or shaded. The heat index of 108 degrees. Brutal most of the time.

There were three other Airstreams at the RV Park – a  1966 refurbished International, a 20’ Bambi and a 30’ International. All looked so nice.
