 Natchez MS – April 29 – May 3, 2022

We drove the Natchez Trace and stayed at Plantation RV Park. Jack said it was an  easy drive – not stressful. There are plenty of places to stop and plenty of restrooms as well.

The RV park is not very big, and somewhat dated. It’s $40 per night. It is a little on the outside of town but not that far.

It is pretty well lit – no dog park and not very much area to walk but plenty of grass areas  for the dogs.

The weather was perfect. We were finally able to put the awnings out and sit outside.

Friday: We just kind of rode around to get a lay of the land. We rode across the Mississippi River to the River View RV Park in Vidalia, LA. It was very nice and we would probably stay there next time.

Saturday: – We toured Longwood, “the largest octagonal house in the United States, is an historic antebellum mansion located in Natchez, Mississippi. The mansion is known for its octagonal design, Byzantine onion-shaped dome, and the contrast between the finished first floor and the unfinished upper floors. Longwood is on the U.S. National Register of Historic Places and is a National Historic Landmark.”

The mansion was very interesting and I finally got to do a cemetery. It was a small family cemetery on the property but I finally got to do it!

Then we went to Franklin St downtown and went through some of the shops. We ate at Roux 61 for lunch. Jacks was much better than mine.

That night it rained pretty hard, and it was very loud in the Airstream. This is our first time we have had rain on a trip.

Sunday: – We couldn’t find a church, and most of the restaurants are closed on Sunday. We are taking it slow this morning but will venture out at some point.

We toured Dunleith Historic Inn. “Nestled behind a wrought-iron fence and large Mississippi oaks, sits Dunleith Historic Inn, a pre-Civil War mansion and famed National Landmark. Past the Greek Revival columns that surround the mansion, original pine floors lead to luxury accommodations that once housed Natchez’ most esteemed residents. Explore the lush grounds that are full of stories and create your own.

Known for accolades like “Best Bed & Breakfast” and “Best Place to Get Married” by Mississippi Magazine, learn why Dunleith continues to draw in locals and visitors alike.”

We ate lunch at the Pig Out In BBQ, and the food and service were good.  We rode through Natchez City Cemetery  and the National Cemetery; both were very interesting.
