Airstream – Year Two Travel
Friday – We start our 2023 travels off today. We left at 8:30 and only made 2 stops for bathroom, which is a record for us. Big Blue did a good job towing the hill to Hattiesburg. Our fuel milage was very good. (14.1 mpg)
The park, Meaher State Park, is nice and the spots are roomy. We are across from the water at Mobile Bay and today we saw an alligator at pretty close distance.
The weather is nice and the temp was in the 70’s but cloudy and later that day the fog rolled in. Then it was gone in 10 minutes. Very weird. Later in the evening, the fog returned.
We ate at the Blue Gill Restaurant. The food was okay , but we mainly went for the live music. We didn’t stay real long but enjoyed the evening.
Saturday -We messed around in downtown Fair Hope. We checked out Bill E’s for lunch, had a very good hamburger, then came back to the site and sat outside.
The weather and breeze were perfect. We cooked supper and headed to the concert. Toto was good as always.
There were several songs I wasn’t familiar with and several I wish they had played. The venue, The Saenger Mobile, was nice and we got good parking since we got there pretty early.

Sunday – We rode to see what Dolphin Island was like. We have never been there before. It was a little further than we thought and had a Fort Morgan feel.
We return to Spanish Fort and had lunch at Ralph & Kacoo’s. The view was nice and the food was good.
We came back to the RV Site and I sunned & Jack smoked some pork chops and puttered around doing RV maintenance stuff.
Monday – It’s very windy today, so the drive home should be interesting. Winds in the 20 mph range with gust to 45 mph. This brought on some white knuckles for a bit, but we really had no issues on the drive.
It’s been 2 months since our last trip, an many ways it felt like starting over as beginners! Where is this and where is that, how to work the convection oven.
Monday night we had a great view with a clear sky with Jupiter and Venus right on top of Maria.
We started off 2023 with a great trip with no issues traveling. We liked the RV park, had a great time in town and as always had great food. Looking forward to our March trip. River View RV Park in Vidalia LA.
