July 17-20, 2025 Gulfport Mississippi

We are off on our second shakedown trip for Frances. A relaxing trip to Gulfport Luxury RV Resort included a visit to Aunt Jenny’s Catfish and Julep Room, a concert, One Vision of Queen featuring Marc Martel  and a day at the pool. We enjoyed the new rig and the park’s amenities, including the beach, pool, and lazy river. It’s was a hot, but great weekend.

Gulfport Luxury RV Resort – Site #133

We left at 6 a.m. to get to Foley RV for our 9:30 a.m. appointment for some warranty work. We made it in time and got everything completed and left around 12:30 p.m.

There was a tropical depression brewing in the Gulf. It did rain once on the way down, but was mostly sunny with clouds when we got there. Check-in went well with no issues, and then we were able to get set up and just take a rest for a little while.

That evening, we met Nick and Shelley at Aunt Jenny‘s Catfish and Julep Room for dinner in Ocean Springs. This used to be one of Elvis‘s hangouts while on the coast. It was fun; the food and service were OK. It was fun to go someplace new and different.

After eating, we had a concert to attend: One Version of Queen featuring Mark Martel at the Hard Rock Live. He is an incredible singer and a high-energy performer. This is our third time to see him and may have been the best. It was nice that he changed up the show some from the other ones we had seen. Great concert.

After the concert, we made it back to Gulfport Luxury with no issues and no rain so far, but it is coming.

Friday: July 18
Overnight, it rained hard for about an hour, but it looks like it’s going to be just a cloudy and sunny day today.

It was a beautiful day with some rain. We got our walk-in, but stayed close to the trailer all day. We got our Lil Rays Poboy. We both ordered roast beef, but somehow both were shrimp when we got to the rig to eat. What a disappointment.

At some point in the day, we both took a nap. Jack napped twice. We were both tired, I guess. We ate in and watched some TV on the couch. We are so glad we have a couch, but we are still adjusting to it.

I was able to sun my legs at the airstream while Jack piddle around outside. Then the rain came. It did not rain too long.

It was a good, relaxing day. We didn’t do much, but that was the plan! Enjoy ourselves and enjoy the new rig.

Saturday: July 19
Saturday morning looks like a beautiful day weather-wise. The weather was warm but with beautiful sunny skies. We sat out in the morning at the RV. Then later I went to the pool. I came in for lunch and then I went back to the pool for a short while. I was starting to get red so I came in. We ate in and watched some TV.

Taking the dogs for a walk, we ran across a lady trying to back in her rig. Jack ended up helping a lady get parked. She thought she had a pull-through site. She did not and wouldn’t have made it without Jack. The RV community is part of what we love.

Part of what we enjoyed about this park is the view of the beach, the pool, and the lazy river. A good place for people to watch.

Sunday: July 20
Another beautiful day. We aren’t in a rush. We got to sleep in a little after I took the dogs out at 5:15 a.m. We left around 9:30 a.m. and had an easy drive home.

Another good trip.
