This short trip is a quick getaway to relax, eat some good food, and take in a concert by The Commodores at the Beau Rivage Casino. Despite the scorching heat, with temperatures exceeding 100° and a heat index of 120° on Saturday, we managed to stay cool and enjoy our time.

Thursday:
The journey down to the resort was smooth, and upon arrival, we discovered that we had almost the entire place to ourselves. Setting up was quick, although the lack of shade made it quite hot. Fortunately, we were able to cool down the trailer in decent time. On the other side of the resort, a lively group called the Cruzin Cajuns was enjoying their time at the pool when we walked by.

In the evening, we dined at Captain Al’s. It was finally Jack’s chance to indulge in some boiled shrimp, and the food was not only delicious but reasonably priced. After dinner, we took a refreshing dip in the pool to beat the relentless heat.

Friday:
We started our day with an early mile and a half beach walk, breaking a sweat even before the temperature soared. To keep the airstream cool without any struggle, we kept the shades down throughout the day. Our plans to visit the Emporium, a shop with various vendors, were foiled as it had closed several months earlier. Instead, we stumbled into an interior design store. It was disappointing that we couldn’t have known about the closure despite the multiple reviews on Trip Advisor, Facebook, and Yelp.

We fueled up at Sam’s and enjoyed a tasty lunch at Taco Sombrero. For dinner, we opted to stay in, and I even managed to sun a little. In the afternoon, we ventured to the mall and took a stroll, discovering an intriguing puzzle shop called “Puzzles USA.” It was a truly relaxing day.

Saturday:
Today, the heat index is expected to reach a scorching 120° at 1:00pm. We braved the heat and started our day with brunch at Morgan Freeman’s Ground Zero in Biloxi. The place had a cool ambiance, friendly service, and delicious food. We managed to squeeze in some walking while the temperature was still searing.

After enjoying dinner in our RV, we made our way to the Beau Rivage for the concert. As our vehicle, Big Blue, was too tall to fit in the garage, we had to park it across the street. The concert was enjoyable, not too lengthy, and began at 8 o’clock.

This trip has been a well-deserved and rejuvenating break from work.
