Camp Airstream Nashville was such a treat and totally lived up to our dreams! The schedule was just right, mixing fun, planned activities with plenty of time to wander around on our own. Everything felt well put together and super interesting.
One of the best parts was the Gibson Guitar tour. Our guide was a rock star, sharing amazing stories about how these amazing instruments are made, their history, and the amazing people who make them.
Another highlight was our tour of downtown Nashville with Paul from Nashville Adventures. He was so excited, told us all sorts of cool stories, and knew the city inside and out. It was a blast and really opened our eyes to Nashville’s history and cool vibe.
The Biscuits with Biscuit Love experience was both fun and yummy. The food was amazing, and getting a recipe book as a souvenir was such a sweet surprise that we could take a little piece of Nashville home.
The songwriting session with Rusty Tabor was super enlightening, fun, and gave us a sneak peek into Nashville’s famous music scene.
Going to the Grand Ole Opry, twice, was a bonus along with the backstage tour, showing us the inside scoop on one of country music’s biggest spots.
The tour of the Opryland Hotel Atrium was just breathtaking. Being surrounded by beautiful plants, flowers, waterfalls, and a cozy indoor place felt like stepping into a beautiful paradise.
One of the best parts of Camp Airstream Nashville was meeting other Airstreamers from all over the eastern U.S. We had a blast sharing stories, learning from each other, and making friends who we hope will stay in touch forever.
Our camp hosts, Don and Michelle, were truly wonderful! Their kindness, organization, and deep knowledge made the whole experience so smooth and enjoyable. They really went out of their way to make sure everyone felt welcome, safe, and part of the fun.
Camp Airstream Nashville was such a memorable trip, packed with awesome activities, fantastic people, and memories we’ll cherish forever. If you’re an Airstream owner, we can’t recommend it enough for a fun, educational, and exciting adventure!

We left out about 7:30 a.m. with the intent to drive the Natchez Trace from Clinton to Tupelo. Then, as we thought about it, we decided to continue and drove all the way to Nashville. The drive was easy with not much traffic, but several bike riders in some areas. There were two detours, and we weren’t able to complete all 444 miles. The gas mileage was great prior to the detours, as it was affected by the stop signs and road changes.
On the Trace, we saw three deer, six turkeys, two hawks in hundreds of down trees, and hundreds of dead trees that need to come down. On our way, we traveled through 3 states: MS, AL, and TN.
When we left Saturday morning, we didn’t have reservations for that night, so we called the KOA in Nashville, where Camp Airstream will be held. We made early reservations without issue. Camp Airstream starts on Tuesday. We will spend a couple of days exploring.

We rode the shuttle bus to the Broadway area. They dropped us off in front of the Country Music Hall of Fame. The weather was nice, so we walked to Martin’s BBQ to eat. The pulled pork was very good.
After lunch, we were off to the Tecovas store. We didn’t see anything we had to have, so we headed to the Gigi Pip store! It was a good walk away, and what a disappointment. Probably five workers, and no one really was interested in helping us. I doubt they will make it.
As the day went along, it got very hot. We walked back to the Hall of Fame and caught the shuttle back to the KOA at 2:30 p.m. When we got back, we got cooled off and refreshed. We had hamburgers for supper, and then we made a run to Walmart for a rug to put in front of the door due to the rain, and then to QT for fuel. Good day in Nashville.

We had a slow morning. Jack worked a little, and we got a good walk-in, and then the rain came. We waited it out, we thought. We went to Franklin, but the rain never stopped. Franklin is about 40 miles away. We did go to the Tecovas store but decided not to explore the rest of downtown in the rain. We came back and ate lunch. It was a little late, so we were pretty hungry.
It finally stopped raining, so we ventured out to Bass Pro. It’s a really big and really nice one. Then we ate and had another good walk. The rain cooled things off some.

Camp Airstream Day. At 11am we moved out of our spot that we have been in for a couple of days and then moved into our Camp Airstream spot. We were the first to arrive, so we had our pick. Don & Michelle, our hosts, are very nice.
Jack had to work some, and I couldn’t stand looking at the dusty truck and the bugs on the Airstream, so I spot-washed them.
We had spaghetti for dinner, then we went over to the social hour at 5 p.m. and met everyone.

We slept in for us. We got up and headed to the Gibson guitar factory for the tour at 9:30. It was mind-boggling how much intricate work it takes to build a guitar. Our guide did a great job. We rode with Rick and Lorel.
After the tour, we headed downtown to eat lunch and spend our hundred-dollar and gift cards they gave us at check-in. We ate at Lainey Wilson’s, and the food was very good, and the music wasn’t too loud. That evening’s dinner was catered barbecue.
We got free tickets to the Grand Old Opry. What a surprise. I wanted to go, so I was super pumped. It was a fun night, so glad we got to go. Most of the musicians were good, and everyone only played 2 to 3 songs.

Downtown tour with Paul from Nashville Adventures was great. With CMA Fest, we didn’t think we would have access to much. But we were able to do all of the things that he had on our list. We even walked through Tootsie’s and stayed around 20 minutes in Nudie’s Bar. Something I’ve never done before. I’m glad to see I’ve seen it. So much cool history. We got back in time for lunch, and then Jack and I had a massage. It was kind of painful, but I’m glad we did it. We had live music from a girl that works at the Gibson factory. Her name is Jenna. She was very sweet. She’s been here for college and now trying to make it as a songwriter/singer for four or five years. It was a great day.

We had Biscuit Love today. I thought we were going to learn how to make biscuits, but he cooked them for us. So we had biscuits and sausage gravy, grits, tomato gravy, and cinnamon rolls.
Then we headed back to Franklin to get my sandals at Tecovas. We toured the Carter house that the Battle of Franklin took place. Our tour guide did a good job. We ate dinner in and then had songwriting. The guy that led us through. It was fun. Any good musician. His name is Russ. The weather was warm but sunny. Traffic was pretty bad coming back from Franklin, but Jack did a good job.

We did the Opry backstage tour today. It was interesting; our guide was just OK. He was hard to hear. We had to make a grocery run, and we got free tickets to the Opry again. They were all good, but Vince Gill was the best. We had a burger bar before we left.

We went to the World Outreach Church today in Murfreesboro with Rick and Lorel. It was a mega church, but we enjoyed it a lot. We ate lunch nearby, and it was good. We got back in shortly. We went to the Opryland hotel atrium. It was looking rainy, so it was a good, mild indoor activity. They keep it around 71° for all the plants. Tonight is potluck in the movie. It’s been a great week. With incoming rain, we are trying to get things ready to go tomorrow. I got my eggs boiled, and didn’t set the smoke alarm off. That’s a first.

Heading home today. It’s been a great week, but we will be glad to get home. We’re going to head south and go through Birmingham and then cut across through Mississippi. Traffic getting out of Nashville is always adventurous, but we made it OK. Traffic the rest of the way was fine. No big issues anywhere. We made good time and had good gas mileage as well. We made it home around 4 o’clock, completing our eight-hour day of travel.
Camp Airstream was a great adventure for us. We saw many things we’ve never seen before. We met new people that we never knew. And now we have more friends in the Airstream world.
Will we go again? We’ll see.
