The travel down was fine. We left around 7:45am. Traffic wasn’t bad due to the holiday. We hit the Cat Scale at Hattiesburg to see what our numbers were with a normal load. The Classic base weight is about 1700 lbs heavier than the Flying Cloud ( 7650 lbs vs 5868 lbs). Total weight was 17240 lbs.
Not sure what our gas mileage to Hattiesburg was since the on-ramp to I-59 was closed due to road work. So we took Highway 49 through downtown. This wasn’t to bad, but several stoplights killed the milage.
Arriving in Gulfport, we picked up poboys at Lil Rays for lunch. It was just too hot to eat in the RV so we went to Gulfport Luxury RV Resort. When we arrived at our spot, Jack got the power hooked up, but the air conditioning wouldn’t come on. We had used the AC at home so we know that it works. After a power reset everything worked.
It did not take long for the rig to cool down and we were able to enjoy our lunch. I had a lot of my inside work already done and the outside setup only took a few minutes.
That evening we ate hamburgers and then it rained or poured. It was nice to just sit on the couch and watch on the new big TV. The new TV is nice.
This weekend is Scrapping the Coast. There will be a lot of loud trucks and cars. Thankfully, the noisemaker drowned them out, but that was only Thursday. Friday and Saturday will be equally as bad if not worse.
A Few Miscellaneous items
Jack was able to troubleshoot and fix a few items.
Air conditioner, bluetooth speakers, TV’s needed updates. Prior to leaving the toilet and Toilet seat were fixed.
As stated earlier, this is our shakedown trip in the new, classic, we are both very happy with our decision and purchase.

We got up early and did our normal things, I was drinking my coffee and Jack had his shake and read the news. Then we took a walk on the beach for about 2 miles. It was hot! We had breakfast when we returned and then took the dogs to the dog park. Then we went to the pool, and lazy river. It was still early. Jack had things to do at the RV so I finished sunning at the RV with him. Our neighbors were gone so we had pretty good view of the beach this morning.
We ate lunch and dinner in. We went messing around a little bit and I got a daiquiri. After dinner, we met one of the couples we flamingoed the day before. It was their maiden voyage. They were new owners and had never camp before. It was fun to get to visit with them
The loud trucks and cars from Scrapping the Coast didn’t keep us awake. There is no telling how much money is invested in some of these trucks.
We are very comfortable in our new airstream. It’s so nice to have a couch and watch TV.

We walked early since it’s so hot. We didn’t walk as far today and walked the RV part with some of its shade. Before coffee before anything.
Today is the main day for the Scrapping the Coast, so it should be very interesting. Bumper-to-bumper traffic for most of the day.
I went to the pool while Jack worked a little. He joined me when he finished. It’s so hot even at the pool. We have been able to keep the airstream cool without any issues. We ate in again. I showered and we stayed in for the rest of the day.
We have the Colt Ford concert tonight. The concert was good. His new band not as good as the old band, but I think this was the first show in over a year.
