Vidalia LA, River View RV Park

River View RV Resort – Vidalia, LA – Natchez, MS, March 17 – 20, 2023

This trip will be our second trip to River View RV Park in Vidalia, LA. We like this park a lot. The temperature will be different for sure. Our first trip in 2022, the temps were in the 100-degree range, and this trip we had a low of 28 degrees on Monday morning. This will be a great test on the Airstream’s HP. Will we stay warm? Will the propane still work? We had  no issues. While in Natchez, we went to two concerts: Michael Jackson & Prince Tribute. http://thepurplemadness.com What a great time. We also spent time with our great friends, Nick and Shelley Relan. We spent a good bit of time in downtown Natchez, had some great food, and plenty of shopping.

Friday:
We left about 9:30am which was later than planned due to the rain at home. We made good time with the on-and-off rain. Big Blue did its job, and we arrived around 11:30 a.m. We checked in early and met Shelly and Nick at Magnolia Grill for lunch. The food was very good. We went to the winery. They went to their place, “The Linden,” and later came for supper and happy hour before the concert. The concert started late, but Michael Jackson was entertaining. The crowd around us was as entertaining as MJ. The venue was small, along with the crowd. We got home way past our bedtime, 11:15ish. It has been a while since we have been out that late.

Saturday:
Shelley & Nick stayed at the Linden Bed and Breakfast. We met them at Darby’s Fudge Shop at 10:30 a.m. and messed around shopping. The door was open at St. Mary’s Basilica Cathedral, so we went in – I got chills, it was so intricate and beautiful to have been built so long ago. Nick and Shelley are Catholic, so it was very special to them. We had lunch at Pearl Street Pasta.

Everyone’s food was good.

Then we went to an estate sale. Of course, Nick and Shelley both found stuff they couldn’t leave without. Jack and I were along for the adventure.
We left there and went to the RV, and they continued shopping. We had a nice break and then they came for happy hour and supper.

We went to Frankie’s on Main St. to have a drink but mostly to see how cool it was. It was previously a bank, and they kept a lot of the stuff from the bank. The vault, the teller stand, was where the hostess was located. The table with the deposit slips was a highball table – very cool.

Mike Wolfe, from the show American Pickers, walked by and spoke to Jack and shook his hand – no pics though!

Prince was good. Our section was not as lively as the night before. The crowd was about the same – slim. I think the guy was a better Prince than MJ. They played all our favorite songs, and we all enjoyed the concert.

Sunday

Nick and Shelley went to mass at St. Mary’s and then left and went home. We slept in and went to lunch at Pig Out Inn – the only place open but always good. It’s very windy and is going to get in the 20s tonight. We just took it easy today.

We road around Natchez on the way back to the RV after lunch. We took a little rest when we returned after being out late two nights, Friday and Saturday.

Monday
Airstream & Big Blue going to need a wash! They are filthy dirty. What a great weekend.
